Snow Day

It’s probably just as well that I’m stuck inside with this foot thing. Because we sure did get a lot of snow: Notice that the snow piles are about the height of the cars or higher.

The Evil Plotting Of Chairs
By Dwip January 16, 2011 at 2:34 pm Comments (12) RSS Feed for this post

So Tuesday night I’m walking down the hall as I do from time to time, when quite suddenly my foot hurts kind of a lot, and I notice that I have unwittingly been attacked by a vicious metal chair that was lurking in the hall. Which is what chairs in halls do, really. After a fair amount of trodding somewhat gingerly and swearing at rather greater length, I went on with my life and didn’t think much of it. The black and blue ring around the middle joint and the discolored area on my upper foot maybe ought to have been a sign, but me and signs were at that time, as we so often are, not on terms of […]

A Note On iTunes Podcasts
By Dwip January 14, 2011 at 4:06 pm Comments (2) RSS Feed for this post

So I’ve been listening to a ton of podcasts at work the past few months. Variously, the complete Savage Love archives, anything I missed from Midrats, and having run out of those, I’m now starting in on Wil Wheaton’s Radio Free Burrito, because I like my gaming nostalgia as much as the next guy, and I’m out of amusing sex advice columns and Navy-centric national security discussions. One problem: iTunes only has the last few episodes, of thirty-some. You can get the archives from Wheaton himself, but alas, iTunes won’t recognize them properly and stick them in the podcasts section, even if you stick the files themselves there. Fortunately, there is a way around this, and here I am shamelessly […]

On Driving In Snow
By Dwip January 12, 2011 at 3:08 pm Comments (7) RSS Feed for this post

Dear drivers of Hamden, and specifically these people: We have a foot of snow on the ground. The plows never showed. Your front wheel drive car is not the vehicle for this. So stay home and enjoy a day off or something. On another note, I am typing this on my phone. Not a great way to do business, but it works now, so. [edit from the desktop] Well, ok. Maybe it doesn’t work so well. Meh.

Creating Editor Markers For Oblivion In Blender/Nifskope
By Dwip January 3, 2011 at 6:26 pm Comments (0) RSS Feed for this post

Remember when I used to have witty post titles for everything? Today is not that day. Also, hey, new year. Cool. Hanaisse would like me to discuss the creation of editor markers for the Oblivion construction set, so we’re going to do some of that. At this point, you may be asking yourself “What is an editor marker?” Glad you asked. In its most basic form, an editor marker is some sort of geometry that is only visible in the Oblivion CS, and not the game. The most common form of editor marker is probably the XMarker, but trigger zones, furniture markers, NorthMarkers, and the like are also editor markers. Editor markers can also be part of objects that will […]
