It’s somewhat astonishing that I’ve never got around to mentioning this before now, considering the blog title, but: Somewhat randomly via this, I’m pretty amused that this Wikipedia page is a thing that exists. Money quote: The animal was clearly in distress, or perhaps berserk. The President confessed to having had limited experience with enraged rabbits. He was unable to reach a definite conclusion about its state of mind. What was obvious, however, was that this large, wet animal, making strange hissing noises and gnashing its teeth, was intent upon climbing into the Presidential boat. The See Also section is pretty great too.

1. Allow me to assure you that getting paid to surf Wikipedia and Amazon for manga and comics AS MY JOB is every bit as awesome as you might think it is. 2. AND I got to do so in my Silent Nut Attack shirt, thanks to Sarah reminding me I OWNED such a thing. Because apparently I forgot about it in my luggage since Christmas break. Keep in mind that it’s one of my favorite shirts. Some days, I don’t even understand myself.

The management, along with killer rabbits, squirrel aliens, and other assorted small forest animals, would like to wish you all a happy Christmas. I’m certainly having one. To those of you who showed up last night for the Traditional Christmas Eve Entertainment Night(tm)(R), I hope you all had as much fun as I had, though next time we play Solarquest, there will be less bogus rules interpretations. To those of you saddened by the lack of movie watching, sorry and if you name one you’d like to see, we can make it happen. To those of you who I haven’t seen yet, sorry and we’ll definitely get together soon. To Sarah, who will probably boggle at all the movie indoc, […]

Because I totally have nothing better to do at work than think these things up. Seriously. And now, a short play for your entertainment, inspired by the awesome Neal Stephenson book Quicksilver, which I suggest you read, because it’s clever. Very clever. Scene I Cabinet doors shop, afternoon. Loud machinery sounds in the background. KAREN enters from around the Sandmaster. Karen: Rails’re sanded, panels done. Building time draws nigh. Quick, I must away, ‘fore the gluing time approaches, and here come Pam and Erik. Exit KAREN; Enter PAM and Erik, pushing a cart of panels. Pam: But where did Karen go? Erik: Well, it was like this, see… Scene II Cabinet doors shop, afternoon. Oddly quiet. KAREN and ERIK are […]

Some gaming humor. First, Chad said something tonight that sounded like “I see armored squirrels” or so. Which is cool, because, well, armored squirrels. Some of you may remember a previous episode wherein the party was attacked from across a river by some bandits. Cleric casts a bridge spell, and my ranger ki frenzies and starts charging across the bridge. Only to come to the realization that it’s 30′ too short. But, well, frenzied. So he leaps anyway, rolls a natural 20 on the jump check, but still comes up 10′ short…and then gets shot by arrows, goes unconcious, and drowns. Keep that in mind. So, trekking to recon this keep with undead, etc. Standard. Except there was a bridge. […]

The first strikes in our campaign against the tyrranical human kulak burgoisie huntist-capitalist oppressors have been made! Viva la revolucion! Courtesy of Regina’s mom, who’s awesome for continuing to find this stuff, and Regina, who keeps awesomely forwarding it to me: IS IT POSSIBLE IT’S NOT THE BIRDS? [Warren Bell] Is it maybe the deer? Have the formerly innocent-appearing woodland creatures used the avian menace as a cover, all the while lulling us into a perilously false state of ease? A deer goes after Gov. Tim Pawlenty, breaking windows. A deer attacks a home in Arkansas, breaking windows. A deer rampages in a hospital in Michigan, breaking windows. All in the last three days? So, as part of my continuing efforts to get into grad school for the whole HS teaching thing, I got to take the Miller Analogies Test today. Now, you’ve all done these things at one point or another. But here’s 120 of them to do in 60 minutes. Not so bad, really. I happen to r0x0rz standardized tests, as it were. While waiting to start, I was having flashbacks to the SAT, my last super-huge test, wherein I walked in without studying a minute and got 640/580 on it, which was more than adequate for a thing that got me up at 7am and screwed with me a lot. As it happens, yesterday was a fabulous day. Bright sunshine, warm, perfect day to blare music and drive down the road a lot, which is what I ended up doing. This was prefaced by an excellent weekend wherein the parental types left for the coast, and I had the house to myself for three days, which as you can imagine was just fine by me. I also watched the remade Manchurian Candidate, which was exceedingly cool in a very creepy way. Kind of reminded me of Fight Club, in a way. I shall now need to acquire and watch the original. I also read all the way through Watership Down, which although it contained no actual rabbits in space*, was […]

So I kind of told Regina I’d do a political post today in honor of the Iraqi elections. But first, I’d like you all to witness Darth Fuzzy’s pictorial debut. Woot. That having been said, let’s talk about Iraq for a bit. I’ve got a whole host of things I want to say on the subject, but let’s start by noting the vast numbers of Iraqis that showed up and voted in the elections with a considerable amount of pride, risking life and limb to do so. Pretty much no matter who ends up winning said elections, the mere fact that they showed up and did so is worth an awful lot. In the sense that our two biggest goals […]

Er, no. Really. It wasn’t my idea to begin with, particularly. But I will admit to a certain morbid fascination with the title, so here we are. At any rate, I find it slightly morally offensive to have to get up before dawn to go to a final which will last me 20 minutes. I really do. Nevermind that I’ve been getting up at 5 and 6 lately. Last night’s final was slightly amusing, despite the fact that I spent all day with a raging Godzilla-devastates-Tokyo-and-then-for-fun-does-it-again level headache, followed by the mother of all stomachaches. But here I am in the test. And there’s like 25 multiple choice questions, 3 5-sentence paragraph short answers of the type “So, what ACTUALLY […]
